Music channels.

Music channels have become a vital part of the music industry today. They have helped to revolutionise the way that we interpret music and the way that video and music can coexist together.

Since MTV (music television) was first launched in 1981 by Warner Amex satellite entertainment, the channel provided constant 24 hours a day music video coverage. It took the world a while to adjust to the ideology behind music and videos coexisting together, but once they did, the audience began to grow massively and MTV became incredibly popular. MTV contains the latest music of all genres but particularly pop, as well as brand new exclusives with stars of the music business, interviews and brand new news stories.

MTV is broadcasted on Sky, BT, Virgin and freeview, along with a number of other television providers.

MTV in the present day is arguably aimed at the young adults of the world, particularly at the ages between 14 and 28 an of course who have a specific interest in music and music culture. We can identify this through the use of big and bold text and the bright, bold colours that are used in th advertisements and the broadcast themselves. Despite both males and females watching MTV, females is the most prevalent gender in terms of who watches MTV the most.
