Question 4:
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Similar to AS, I understand how important gaining opinion is and understanding the audience in terms of what they feel is vital. So, as a result of this understanding, I decided to do some investigating in terms of target audience. I created a focus group and brought them together to answer questions on my music video and ancillary tasks. The target audience that I looked at is young people aged between 17 and 21.
Question 1 - Do you believe that the music video conforms closely to the general expectations and conventions that the Arctic Monkeys have come to be known as?

I asked 10 people this question and 7 people agreed and 7 disagreed. This 70% believed that it matched up well. When asked why a few people had the following to say.

Brandon (18) - 'Yeah, I'd say that it matches up pretty well and reminds me of other arctic monkeys music, the narrative part is classic arctic monkeys and is perfect for the song in my opinion.'

Ben (19) - I can see certain parts that match up well, but in an arctic monkeys song i would like to see more of a performance element as that is what they are all about!'

Question 2 - When we look at the music video, do you believe that the lip syncing is good enough?

Out of 10 people asked, 5 said yes and 5 said no, this made it completely 50:50. When asked to expand on their answers, the focus group responded with the following.

Anais (19) - 'I think the lip syncing is okay, but it could definitely be improved with a bit of re-filming, the lyrics match up but their are parts where it is difficult to recognise if it does or not.'

Dylan (21) - 'For me, the lip syncing is pretty great, it matches well and the performer connects well too. I would struggle to find a way to improve it if i'm honest.'

Question 3 - Do you feel that there is a clear connection between the music video and the magazine advert?

Out of 10 people, 4 said yes, so 60% thought that they couldn't see a strong connection between the two.

Adam (17) - 'I struggle to see a real connection between the two, it doesn't flow nicely like it should, however i can see that they have tried to to do so, the images used and colours are similar but it doesn't really work for me.'
Louise (17) - 'I can see that they have tried to make link between the two, it works partially with the images and grey coloring but the text for example is very random as there are lots of different types of font, which isn't ideal.'
Question 4 - In terms of the digipak, are the images used relevant and do the link to the magazine advert and the music video?

7 out of 10 people thought the digipak linked to the magazine advert and video, as well as the images being relevant. This meant that 70% agreed.
Summa (18) - I think the digipak is quite nice, the images are definitely a highlight as they paint a picture of the narrative. It does link to the magazine advert but i struggle to make clear links to the music video.'

Adam (20) - The images are used really well and they are definitely relevant. I also think that all 3 tasks link well and particularly the digipak and magazine advert as they match up due to their similar imagery and text.'
