Prop analysis...
I have analysed a number of props that have been used in indie rock music videos. Props can be vita in the success of a music video so it important that we gain a thorough understanding of how they can be used effectively.

The Kooks, She moves in her own way.
On the right hand side is the Kooks' video of 'She moves in her own way'. The Kooks are a classic example of an indie rock band formed in 2004 in Brighton England. I have analysed an example of prop usage below.

The guitar on the right is seen very early on in the video, and is a classic example of a prop in an indie rock video. It signifies a personal element and how the indie rock genre connects with the audience though the use of the simple instrument and how it it focused on significantly in the mid shot.
Catfish and the Bottlemen, Cocoon.
On the right is the music video of 'Cocoon' by 'Catfish and the Bottlemen'. Formed in 2007, Catfish and the Bottlemen are a welsh indie rock band who have had a lot of recent success in the industry.

The use of the white flower early on in the video is done purposely to create a sense of purity within the video. The colour white often is associated with innocence and purity and with the flower therefore creates this impact on the audience. The complies with the fact that the indie rock genre is thought of as quite a calm and relaxed genre.
